Global first: a key success-factor for u-blox
We started our successful journey in 1997 by presenting the smallest GNSS receiver in module form to the market, and it became an economic success, too. The Swiss road toll system for trucks was equipped with those products.
Global first: we immediately recognized that a global sales organization will be needed to serve global markets, so in 2001 we expanded our global presence by opening offices in the USA and Asia.
In 2002 we launched our first own GNSS chipset, surprisingly for the market, as at this time it was hardly possible to design a complex system like a GPS receiver on a chip.
After five more years, at the 10th anniversary of u-blox, we went successfully public at Swiss stock exchange SIX.
